In the last year of the War we sang a song with the following lyrics in part:
Vlak achter prachtige bossen dicht bij het IJsselmeer
ligt half verscholen tussen de heuvels het dorpje waar ik van hou
regel/a line not remembered
regel/a line not remembered
dubbel refrain=======
dorpje met je grote schoonheid bijna onvindbaar op de kaart
regel/ a line not remembered
regel/line eindigt met/ends with "één grote daad, één grote daad"
======
dorpje met je flinke zonen
regel/ line not remembered
regel/line not remembered
last line: mijn herinnering blijf je waard
I remember the melodie but not all the lyrics.
Can you help me fill in the lyrics?

The Yme and Dora van der Wal family was and still is very musical. Pieter their son was most likely the composer and the lyricist. I have contacted some of the younger generation as well as Yme van der Wal Jr who at age 89 is still very much alive and active in Victoria, Australia.
No luck.
The van der Wal family were our next door neighbors in de Havenstraat.
